I’ve eaten here 5 times and never had a course I didn’t like out of the 70 or so there have been. I also spent a week in the kitchen many years ago and loved the atmosphere in there as many high end kitchens can be brutal.

Opened and headed up by Mark Birchall who was Head chef at L’enclume when I staged there. Mark is a great guy cooking amazing food. A walk around the kitchen garden on the way from the car park is a nice way to start the experience.

Beautiful food cooked by a team in an open kitchen that’s basically in the restaurant but not intrusive. Great to watch them work as a team moving to busier sections through service helping each other out.

Sticky Walnut - Chester

Simple but well cooked Bistro food. Mostly made famous by Gary Ushers Twitter rants where he holds no punches and speaks on issues with running a restaurant, mainly dealing with wanker customers and bin men.

Yuzu - Manchester

Probably the best Japanese food in town and a cute little restaurant. Try all the starters.
